The Tories are now 'more right wing than UKIP' new poll reveals
The British people think the Conservative Party is more right wing than UKIP, according to a new poll.
Pollster ComRes quizzed 1,021 people for the Daily Mirror, asking respondents to rate various political leaders and their parties on a scale of 0-10, with 0 meaning very left wing and 10 meaning very right wing.
The Tories scored 7.33, slightly ahead of Prime Minister Theresa May with 7.26, while UKIP were next with 7.24.
UKIP’s key pledges include cutting immigration, building a ‘more secure’ Britain and prioritising the NHS above foreign aid.
Capping welfare and working to control immigration are a key part of the Conservative party’s long-term economic plan.
Sharing the top spot on the right wing-ometer were Donald Trump and former UKIP leader Nigel Farage, each with a solid 7.47.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was at the opposite extreme with a score of 2.23, marginally further left than his party with 3.03.
Political Support for Corbyn was low, the same poll found. 56% of respondents said that the Leader of the Opposition would be a “disaster” as PM.
And while Brits were more likely to support than oppose the policies listed in Labour’s leaked draft manifesto, 26% said they liked the Labour party but not its leader.
Only 5% said that they liked the Conservatives but not Theresa May.
In further bad news for the Labour leader, 42% said that the Conservatives are running the best General Election campaign so far, while only 20% think Corbyn’s party has the edge.
