Torrential rain, flooding in Newark, USA, as extreme weather strikes around the world

Storms and flooding hit the US north-east on Saturday 17 July. The streets of Newark in New Jersey were flooded in the downpour. The storm also hit other parts of the 'Tri-state' (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) area. It comes as countries across the world are being hit by extreme weather events, from severe floods to wildfires. Scientists say such events are made much more likely by climate change.
