A Conservative MP has revealed his daily morning routine of an hour-long bath – and recommends that we all do it.

Backbencher Tim Loughton told a conference on mindfulness and meditation that he indulges in a morning bath so he can “think about things”.

And while going to a gym is a workout for the body, the MP for East Worthing and Shoreham said a bath was like “going to the gym for the mind”.

He said: “I spend up to an hour in the morning just thinking about things.

“One of the greatest causes of stress in the world was the invention of the shower.

“It’s like going to the gym for the mind.”

The conference, where politicians learnt how meditation and self-awareness can improve politics, was organised after MPs complained about the level of abuse they faced on social media.
