Tottenham Draw Blank In Rome

Tottenham need a point to qualify for the knockout stage of the Europa League after a 0-0 draw against Lazio.

Spurs fans had hoped the game in Rome would pass without incident following the attack in a nearby bar that resulted in two supporters in hospital with knife wounds.

But reports from the Stadio Olympico suggested that some Lazio fans were heard chanting "Juden Tottenham" in an apparent anti-Semitic jibe.

Tottenham and Lazio icon Paul Gascoigne was guest of honour but his presence failed to inspire much attacking football.

Spurs should have gone ahead in the sixth minute when Gareth Bale rounded the 'keeper to score but his effort was incorrectly ruled offside.

Hugo Lloris starred in the first-half, keeping out Lazio striker Libor Kozak on two occasions.

Panathinaikos' victory over Maribor means Tottenham only have to draw their final game at home to the Greek side next month to qualify.
