Tottenham and England waiting on Danny Rose groin injury diagnosis

Both England and Tottenham face an anxious wait over Danny Rose's fitness after Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that the full-back had suffered a recurrence of a groin problem.

Rose, who started the 1-0 Premier League win over Cardiff on Saturday having been rested against Barcelona in the week, was forced off late on at Wembley after seemingly falling awkwardly.

Rose, who was replaced by Welshman Ben Davies, is set to join up with Gareth Southgate's England squad next week ahead of friendlies against Croatia and Spain as the Three Lions continue their Uefa Nations League campaign.

The 28-year-old completed 90 minutes against Huddersfield last weekend, but Pochettino confirmed he felt a groin problem following that win, and that having felt it again at Wembley he would have to be assessed by the England medical staff.

"It was the same as it was after Huddersfield, a problem in his groin," Pochettino told Standard Sport.

"He felt it again. We hope that nothing important but of course we need to assess.

"He needs to go to the national team and see what happened.

"He needs to check in with the national team."
