Tottenham fear Ryan Sessegnon transfer chances are dented by Shahid Khan Wembley bid

Tottenham fear Shahid Khan’s bid to buy Wembley will end their chances of signing Fulham prodigy Ryan Sessegnon in the future.

Fulham owner Khan has said Sessegnon will not be sold this summer, following Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Championship Play-off Final.

Tottenham will continue to monitor the teenager, though Spurs believe the newly-promoted club will be reluctant to do business with them because their chairman Daniel Levy could soon be in direct competition with Khan to secure an NFL franchise in London.

Spurs will stage gridiron matches at their new stadium and Levy likes the idea of the 62,000-capacity venue one day becoming home to an NFL team in the capital.

American billionaire Khan, however, could bid to make London the permanent home of the Jacksonville Jaguars if he completes a deal worth in excess of £500million to buy Wembley. And Spurs are concerned the looming rivalry between Levy and Khan will mean Fulham would rather Sessegnon went elsewhere if they are forced to sell in the future. Manchester City and Paris St Germain are among the other clubs interested in the £50m-rated 18-year-old.

“We don’t want Sessegnon leaving. I don’t think he wants to go. He’s going to be at Fulham for the coming year, leading us into the Premier League,” Khan told The Times today.

Tom Cairney is another player who is set to stay and the club want to press ahead with a move to sign Aleksandar Mitrovic from Newcastle on a permanent basis, though there is still uncertainty over the Fulham future of right-back Ryan Fredericks, who is a target for Crystal Palace.

Fulham owner Khan is ready to back manager Slavisa Jokanovic in the transfer market, with the Serb saying he requires players with Premier League experience.
