Tottenham will learn on Thursday whether they will be able to use Wembley’s full 90,000 capacity for at least 27 home matches next season.

Brent Council’s planning committee will decide whether to grant the application, made by Wembley National Stadium Limited, for the extra matches at full capacity during the 2017-18 campaign.

Brent officers recommended last week that the committee give the green light - in the form of a 44-page report - as long as it is agreed Tottenham's move would prove beneficial, and not negatively impact, the local community.

Wembley have asked for 22 extra full-capacity events to be permitted between August 1 this year and July 31, 2018, which would allow Spurs full use of the ground’s 90,000 seats for every home fixture next term at the national stadium.

Spurs say they have until March 31 to activate their option, agreed with Wembley, though there remains no official word from the club that this season is likely to be their last at White Hart Lane.

Manchester United's visit on May 13 is currently scheduled to be the last game hosted by the stadium.

Spurs hope that moving out for a year would ensure their 61,000-seat ground — a project costing £800m — will be ready for the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
