Tottenham are making progress on the construction of their new 61,559 capacity stadium, with the main structure of the ground now established.

The £800million venue is due to open for the start of next season, with the club spending a year away from north east London.

Spurs will play their first domestic home fixture at Wembley Stadium this weekend as they face Chelsea in the Premier League.

So far, Spurs have sold around 70,000 tickets, including 3,000 in the away end, for the first League game at their temporary home - some 20,000 short of the national stadium’s capacity. But following talks with the safety advisory group, made up of representatives from Brent Council and the police, fire and ambulance services, the club have not been permitted to put remaining tickets on general sale for fear of Chelsea supporters buying in the home end.

Spurs are only able to sell tickets to fans registered on their database prior to July 1, leaving the prospect of swathes of empty seats for one of their biggest games of the season.
