New Tottenham stadium delays won't distract players, insists Harry Winks

Harry Winks is adamant that he and his Tottenham team-mates have not been affected by the delays over their new stadium.

The north London club were scheduled to move into their new home in time for the start of the season before concerns over the new £1billion stadium’s critical safety systems delayed the opening.

The club announced on Wednesday that their Premier League home game against Manchester United on January 13 will be played at Wembley and the club face a race against time to get things ready in time for for the Champions League last 16 knockout stage.

Despite their problems off the field, Mauricio Pochettino's side currently sit third in the table after winning 12 of their 16 games in the Premier League this season.

And the 22-year-old believes the squad have adapted to playing at Wembley, before admitting the team could have even improved their position.

"It's been a really good season in terms of points, although we can probably look back and say we needed to perform better," the England international told Sky Sports.

"If we are looking purely on a points basis, then we have done really well and everyone's really confident.

"With the new stadium not finished and little things like this here and there, it's obviously something that we notice and hear about.

"It's not something we can really let affect us. The most important thing is, whether we are playing home or away, we have to adapt to that situation.

Tottenham face Burnley on Saturday and will be hoping to close the gap on Manchester City and leaders Liverpool with a fourth home win in a row in all competitions.

After initially struggling to adapt to their temporary surroundings, Winks says Tottenham are finally feeling at home at the national stadium.

"We have been at Wembley for the last year now so we are used to the stadium," he added.

"We have had some really big matches and some really good results there.

"Of course we want to be in our new stadium but it's part and parcel of football and we have to adapt to it.
