Christian Eriksen believes he has regained full fitness after an abdominal injury forced him to take a much-needed rest.

The Tottenham midfielder, who reached the World Cup last 16 with Denmark in the summer, has completed 90 minutes just twice since overcoming the niggling problem in mid-October and he has been among the substitutes for Spurs’ last three league games.

“I feel very good, very fresh,” he told Sky Sports. “I haven’t played that many games so I think for my body it’s been good with a bit of a build-up going into every game.”

“My body needed it. It said take a rest. It’s never fun to be injured, it’s always boring being on the sidelines when you want to be able to help the team.”

Eriksen will continue his comeback in Denmark’s upcoming Nations League games against Wales and the Republic of Ireland, despite Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino admitting he would rather his players were given a rest ahead of the hectic schedule over the festive season.
