Christian Eriksen has provided an update on contract negotiations following "many talks" with Tottenham.

Eriksen has been in discussions over an extension to his £70,000-a-week contract at Spurs since last season, while both Real Madrid and Barcelona are understood to have shown an interest.

Spurs have rewarded a number of key players with new contracts over the past six months, most notably Harry Kane and Dele Alli signing six-year deals and manager Mauricio Pochettino recommitting for five.

Standard Sport understands Tottenham are hopeful that Eriksen will become the next star to put pen to paper, with any deal expected to at least double his salary.

"I have my agent to take care of it so I can play football," he told Danish outlet BT. "Then we see where it ends.

"There have been talks with Tottenham many times.

"I cannot say if it’s over just yet – you must ask them."
