Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen has admitted he is not happy with his playing time under Mauricio Pochettino.

However the Dutch striker, who scored his first goal from open play as a Spurs player in a 6-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Millwall earlier this month, has vowed not to be a disruptive influence on Mauricio Pochettino’s winning squad.

Janssen was expected to be a valuable reserve to, and at times partner for, Harry Kane when he arrived from AZ Alkmaar for around £20million in the summer but has struggled to make an impact and has faded from Pochettino’s plans.

Though he has made 20 Premier League appearances only five have been as a starter and Janssen admits he wants more opportunities in the Spurs side, who currently sit second in the Premier League.

“Of course I’m not satisfied with the amount of playing time in recent months,” he told Voetbal International. “But I remain positive. Moreover, things are going very well at Tottenham Hotspur.

“I’m not going to walk around as the only player whining. That makes no sense.”

Kane’s ankle injury, which will keep him out for several more weeks, is likely to open up further opportunities for Janssen, though it was instructive that Pochettino chose to start with Heung-min Son up front instead of the Dutch international in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Southampton.
