Tottenham's EFL Cup journey begins at Wembley on Tuesday night when Championship side Barnsley visit.

Spurs enjoyed a heartening start to their Champions League campaign with victory over Borussia Dortmund last week, but were brought back down to earth after Saturday's disappointing 0-0 draw with Swansea.

The visit of Barnsley will offer a welcome distraction after an indifferent start to the Premier League season. Indeed, the win over Dortmund was Tottenham's only competitive victory under the arch of Wembley so far this season, so the League Cup presents Mauricio Pochettino's men with an inviting chance to give the home fans reason to cheer.

The Tykes have managed just two wins in the League so far this season and travel to the national stadium following a thumping 3-0 defeat by Aston Villa.
