Tottenham XI vs Southampton: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, latest injuries for Premier League match

Gareth Bale is not expected to make a dramatic double homecoming at Southampton on Sunday, with Tottenham's imminent new signing carrying a knock and some way from match fitness, despite playing twice for Wales last month.

The Welshman is expected to be put on an intensive fitness progress but it is unclear when he will be ready to make his long-awaited second Spurs debut.

Jose Mourinho may be tempted to throw Sergio Reguilon straight into the starting line-up, although a debut against Leyton Orient or Macedonians Shkendija next week is more realistic for the Spaniard.

The Spurs manager has described this month's schedule as "inhuman" and a "total joke" but he is still set to save the bulk of the changes for Orient.

Giovani Lo Celso should keep his place after impressing on his return from a hamstring injury in Bulgaria on Thursday, while Toby Alderweireld will come back in after being rested for the trip.

Mourinho faces a decision between Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko in midfield, with Thursday's match-winner Tanguy Ndombele more likely to come off the bench again as he works his way towards peak condition.
