Touching tributes paid to two-year-old boy after nursery death
Touching messages have been left outside a nursery following the death of a two-year-old boy last week. On Tuesday, January 14, Merseyside Police was called at around 12.35pm to Early Learners Day Nursery on Hawthorne Road, Bootle, following reports a child had suffered a medical episode.
The boy was taken to hospital by paramedics, where he was sadly pronounced dead. Police confirmed an investigation to establish the full circumstances and cause of death is underway and the boy's family is being supported.
Following the death, heart breaking tributes have been left outside the nursery in Bootle. One tribute read: "Thinking of all of the family. Sleep tight baby boy."

Another said: "The beautiful shining star, I will look out for you, rest in peace beautiful boy. Thinking of all your family at this heart breaking time. Lots of love KW xxx." Dozens of flowers, soft toys and teddy bears have also been left by the railings outside Early Learners Day Nursery.
Other tributes have been shared on social media. Charlie Robinson said: "R.I.P you beautiful little boy! Fly high mate - what a beautiful boy you were." Nickie Jones added: "Every parent's worst fear when they drop their baby off. Thinking of the family and staff. Absolutely heart breaking."
A message was also sent to parents from the nursery following the death. It read: "Dear parents and carers, as you are aware, this afternoon a medical emergency occurred at the nursery. It is with devastating sadness that we have to inform you of a child's passing.
"To enable everyone to process today's tragic events, we have made the decision to close the nursery for the remainder of the week, and also to allow us to continue working with relevant agencies.
"We trust that you understand our decision at this difficult time and we will update you all with further information in the coming days. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family." The ECHO approached Early Learners Day Nursery for comment.
The full police statement said: "We can confirm that an investigation is underway following reports that a two-year-old boy suffered a fatal medical episode at a children’s nursery in Bootle. The incident was reported at around 12.35pm yesterday, Tuesday 14 January, at Early Learners Day Nursery, on Hawthorne Road, and the child was taken to hospital by paramedics.
"He was sadly pronounced deceased at hospital and his family is being supported. An investigation has been commenced to establish the full circumstances and cause of death."
Following the death The ECHO understands, in accordance with an Ofsted investigation, the nursery will remain closed for six weeks until February 26.
