Tourist's Dog Missing for 2 Weeks Rescued From Irish Cliff

An Irish fisherman captured the dramatic moment a local man climbed down a cliff to rescue a tourist’s dog, which had been missing for over two weeks after becoming trapped on a ledge.

Mali, a Bernese mountain dog, went missing on August 16 after she ran off in high winds on the island of Arranmore in County Donegal.

Over two weeks passed before the crew of a North West Charters fishing vessel, who were sailing around the island, heard barking coming from a cliff. The boat’s captain, John Paul Baska, said his crew spotted Mali around 60 meters above sea level.

They raised the alarm to the local coast guard, but a member of the public was able to get to Mali on the cliff edge first, and Baska recorded the rescue from the boat.

After being reunited with Mali, her owner, Sarah Recinos Ralda, told BBC News NI that her family were “really happy to have her back.”

“She is completely fine, just a bit skinnier,” Ralda said. “I just want a big shoutout to Arranmore people and everybody involved. They are just amazing; they are heroes.”

Ralda said her family, from Germany, were spending the summer in Ireland. Credit: North West Charters via Storyful

Make up.

He's waking them up.

I got, he has them.

Oh Yeah, man.

Gotta have, there's nowhere where we're going now, by the way.

I love that.

There he goes, boy, you see him?
