Tower Hamlets stabbing: Woman, 31, arrested on suspicion of murder after man found dead in property

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead inside a property in Tower Hamlets.

Met Police officers were called to a residential address in William Whiffin Square just after 11am on Tuesday, where they discovered a 28-year-old man with knife injuries.

He was treated at the scene by medics but despite their efforts he was pronounced dead just before 12pm.

A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Detectives are currently treating the death as “unexplained”, the force said. His next of kin have yet to be notified and formal identification has not taken place.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 11:01hrs on Tuesday, 28 December to reports of an injured male at a residential address in William Whiffin Square, E3.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service [LAS] attended. At the scene a 28-year-old male was found with knife injuries.

“He was treated at the scene by medics but despite their efforts he was pronounced dead at 11:48hrs.

“Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the injuries.”

They added: “At this early stage detectives from Central East Command investigate supported by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained.”

A post-morten examination will be held in due course, the force said.
