The Only Way is Essex former cast member Mike Hassini has been sentenced to over six years in prison after admitting to drug offences.

After initially being arrested in April, Hassini has now been sentenced to six years and nine months in jail, with The Sun reporting that he was reportedly caught exchanging £144,000 of cocaine, disguised in a cardboard box.

Police also allegedly discovered phones and burner phones in the box, while three more blocks of cocaine and other drug-related items were found at a property.

Judge Kwame Inyundo said: "It is clear you had an important role supplying high-value drugs."

Hassini joined the TOWIE cast in 2015, before being suspended the following year after he crashed his car into another car in London. He was charged with "driving or being in charge of a motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit", as well as "possession of cocaine".

Hassini's Instagram account states that he has recently been working as a personal trainer and online coach.

Meanwhile, another former TOWIE star, Amy Childs, opened up about her return to the reality show, alongside her young daughter Polly, earlier this year following a number of cast members being dropped.

"There is now about 12 cast on the show. What they've done, I think they've halved the cast," she said. "They want to get into our real lives now, they want to know everything about us."

She added: "I've got Polly on the show that made me successful and now I've got my daughter on it, I feel proud. TOWIE has always been a part of my life, and I always thought about when the right time is to go back and this is so the right time. I'm older and I'm the mum of the show."

The Only Way Is Essex airs on ITVBe.
