Town of Prescott Prepares for Evacuation as Goodwin Fire Draws Near

The town of Prescott, Arizona, is preparing for possible evacuations as the Goodwin Fire, which reached over 20,000 acres by Wednesday, June 28, grows near.

According to an incident report, the fast-moving fire is 1 percent contained. Southwest winds of 15-20 mph and wind gusts up to 30 mph are making the fire difficult to contain. On Wednesday morning, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey tweeted that the Goodwin Fire is the state’s top priority.

Over 600 firefighters are fighting the flames, dropping fire retardant from helicopters and tankers, as shown in this video. Credit: Instagram/Brandon Armstrong via Storyful
