It's all change at the top of the Rotten Tomatoes leaderboard yet again, as another film has just assumed the mantle of 'best reviewed movie of all time'.

Last year, Lady Bird broke Toy Story 2's record for the most consecutive Fresh ratings on the review aggregate site, only for the Disney Pixar movie to return to the top after Greta Gerwig's film received its first negative review.

But now there's a new champion reigning supreme – and he's every bit as charming as Woody, Buzz and co.

In news that will either surprise no-one or pretty much everyone, Paddington 2 (!) is now officially Rotten Tomatoes' number one movie after securing 165 certified Fresh reviews.

Isn't that the best news you've heard all week?

After the beloved Paddington sequel surpassed Toy Story 2's record by just two Fresh reviews, the series' director Paul King thanked fans for their "overwhelmingly positive response".

Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, he said: "The Paddington films are a real labour of love. So many people pour their hearts and souls into them for months or even years, hand-crafting every last frame, and we are all incredibly grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response we've had so far.

"We hope it inspires people to go to the cinema to see for themselves if a talking animal film really can be any good, and whether Hugh Grant really can look devilishly handsome even while dressed as a nun. (Clue: yes.)"

But don't crack out the marmalade just yet, as it's pretty likely that everybody's favourite bear from deepest, darkest Peru won't stay at the top spot.

"Lady Bird did eventually get a Rotten review, a cruel fate we predict will befall Paddington 2 in time," Rotten Tomatoes warned.

But until that day happens, we're going to continue to revel in the fact that a wholesome family film about a friendly little bear is currently the world's number one.

It's what we need, OK?
