Toy Story 4 premiere: Toys are back in town as Tom Hanks joins co-stars on red carpet in Los Angeles

Tom Hanks has joined his fellow Toy Story 4 co-stars on the red carpet for the world premiere of the latest edition of the well-loved children's film series.

Hanks, who has voiced loveable cowboy Woody since the 1995 original, joined Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear) and Annie Potts (Little Bo Peep) for the movie's official unveiling in Los Angeles.

The stars posed with their characters and greeted excitable fans as they arrived for the screening of the hit Disney Pixar flick at the El Capitan on Tuesday evening.

Its world premiere means the toys are now literally back in town for the much-anticipated fourth instalment of the Toy Story franchise, which hits the big screens in the UK later this month.

Some of the most-loved film characters of all time will be back in cinemas on June 21, with Woody, Buzz, Jessie and friends starring in another family-pleasing adventure.

Sadly, it also appears to mean that the film series — which has meant so much to millions of fans over the years and continued to cross generational divides — is finally coming to close.

That said, Disney previously stated that 2010's Toy Story 3 would be the final chapter in the story, so perhaps anything is on the table; it took them four years, until 2014, to announce they'd be dusting the toy box off for one final instalment. Here’s everything we know about the film so far.
