Toy Story 4 trailer teases emotional end to Woody and Buzz journey in Pixar sequel

The first trailer for Toy Story 4 has finally been released.

Pixar fans are in for a treat as a full look at the forthcoming sequel – featuring the Beach Boys song “God Only Knows” – has revealed details of what to expect in what could well be the final chapter for Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Bo Peep.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called Forky to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.”

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack all return as the voices of Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, while Tony Hale voices Forky. The film is directed by Josh Cooley, with Jonas Rivera and Mark Nielsen producing.

Hanks promised that the final scene of the film will be an emotional “moment in history”, saying: “the way you record Toy Story, you’re in a room with the team that has created it. When I went in for my last day of recording, I wanted to have my back to them, because usually, you’re facing them so he can look right up and you can talk about it. But I didn’t want to see them and pretend they couldn’t see me.”

Toy Story 4 will be released in cinemas on 21 June 2019.
