Tractor driver 'has acid injected in his eyes in revenge attack after affair with boss’s wife’

A tractor driver has allegedly had acid injected into his eyes in a revenge attack after an affair with his boss’s wife.

Gautam Kumar Choudhary, 30, is fighting for his life in a hospital in India.

Doctors at the hospital in the Begusarai district of north-eastern India’s Bihar state say he has lost 90% of his vision.

Mr Choudhary, from the village of Oriya in the Samastipur district of Bihar, claims he was attacked because of his relationship with the wife of his farmer boss.

The couple ran off together earlier this month but returned after ten days when she went to a police station.

Mr Choudhary claims his boss’s brother posed as a policeman and phoned him to tell him to go to the station to collect her.

Mr Choudhary said: “I hired a vehicle from my native village and left for Begusarai. But I was kidnapped about one kilometre from the police station.”

He said a group of men took him to a roadside motel and injected acid into his eyes.

“My cries for help fell on deaf ears. I fainted,” Mr Choudhary told police.

He said he was then dumped in a ditch at the side of the road and left for dead, before he was spotted by a motorist who found him in a pool of blood and took him to hospital.

Police have arrested his boss and want to speak to others whom Mr Choudhary has accused.
