Tracy Beaker returned once again last week in CBBC's My Mum Tracy Beaker, a three-part series that featured the titular character grown up and trying to navigate her relationship with her daughter.

As well as seeing Tracy as a mum and the welcome return of arch-enemy Justine Littlewood, the final episode also saw Tracy's foster mum Cam Lawson marry another woman.

Many fans felt like Cam was meant to be LGBTQ+ in both the various TV shows and the books by author Jacqueline Wilson, who is a lesbian herself and said last year that Cam was "clearly gay".

Tracy actress Dani tweeted how happy she was at the inclusion of Cam living her best life, writing: "At last Cam finally got her happy ending!!!

"We were fuming when she got married off to a man in the original series! It was ridiculous! But so glad Cam got what she deserved! She is a Queen and deserved a Queen in return."

The previous marriage Dani is referring to is when Cam married a man named Gary in series 5 of the original series, which a fan tweeted to say that "we don't talk about" anymore.

"Damn right we don’t!!" she replied. "They messed up there didn’t they."

Another fan also pointed out that Section 28 — which banned the 'promotion' of homosexuality — was in effect at the time.

Dani replied to say she didn't think about that but that it makes a lot of sense, adding that "at the age of 12 and filming that first series I knew they character was a lesbian!"

My Mum Tracy Beaker is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
