Trader Joe’s Customers Seen Swarming the Store for Mini $2.99 Tote Bags: 'Actually Crazy'
TikTok users are drawing comparisons between the popular mini totes and Stanley Quenchers
Trader Joe’s latest product is causing quite the stir at some stores.
The brand’s mini tote bag, which comes in navy, yellow, red and green, is their latest limited-edition product — and since its release, customers have been rushing to stores to snag one.
One viral TikTok video posted by user Sinead Olivares, has garnered over 1.6 million views, and features the high demand for the bags. The post, which is at a California Trader Joe’s store, shows customers quickly rummaging through a pile of the mini totes. Some are even seen stacking more than one into their cart.
Commenters were shocked at the excitement from customers. “This is actually crazy,” one wrote. Another said, “Why are people taking like 30 bags????
In the comments, Olivares shared details about how far people queued up in the hopes of getting one. “It was crazy they were lined up all the way to chipotle!” she wrote of the shopping center’s line.
Another video posted by @athenaspud, shows a large group of people crowding around a display as it gets pushed into the store. "These mfs wildin over a mini tote bag," they captioned the clip.
According to TJ’s website, the totes are made of the “same heavy duty, 65% cotton/35% polyester blend” as the company's larger canvas bags. “The difference is, these Totes are Mini-about 13 inches long, by 11 inches tall, by 6 inches wide,” the website reads.
A representative for Trader Joe's did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment on the commotion.
Several commenters drew comparisons to the Stanley tumbler craze with one writing, “The totes version of the Stanley cup lol.” Another made the same parallel, commenting, “Here we go again first it was the Stanley now this.”

The comments reference how sought-after Stanley Cup products, particularly the Quencher H2.0 FlowState, have become.
Earlier this year, the products became Target’s hottest commodity after the food and beverage container brand released two Target-exclusive Quencher H2.0 FlowState Tumblers. The tumblers came in Cosmo Pink and Target Red and were a part of the brand's "Galentine's Collection."

One video of the initial drop shared on TikTok by a customer in El Paso, Texas, showed a crowd of people running towards the tumbler at a local Target. The social media user added the caption, "Getting trampled for a Target Stanley Valentine's Cup."
The comment section contained mixed reactions, with one individual writing, "I love Stanley, but I will not do this for a cup." Another person commented, "All for a Stanley?"
