New 'traffic calming measures' to be installed next week
Hull City Council has unveiled plans to improve road safety by introducing additional traffic calming measures on Pearson Park, with work set to kick off next week.
The project will see the installation of four new road humps around Pearson Park and the expansion of the existing footpath at the junction of Park Road near Humberside Police Station.
This initiative forms part of the council's ongoing pledge to enhance road safety and encourage active travel options for all residents.

The new road humps aim to curb vehicle speeds, thereby boosting safety for all road users. Moreover, the expanded footpath will offer more room for pedestrians, making it safer and more accessible for everyone.
Work is due to begin on Monday 30 September and is anticipated to wrap up in six weeks, weather permitting.
To ensure the safety of contractors and the public, the works will be carried out using footpath closures and a two-phase road closure, to keep disruption to a minimum.
Phase one: From Monday 30 September to Sunday 20 October - Access will be limited due to a localised road closure next to the police station for the construction of the footway widening. During this period, a footpath closure will be in place.
It is expected that during the final week of the first phase of the works, the road will be closed between Fernlea Care Home and the police station for up to two days to facilitate the installation of two road humps.
Phase two of the project, running from Monday 21 October to Friday 8 November, will see access restrictions due to a localised road closure next to No. 18 Pearson Park (east of Pearson Park/Park Road junction) for footway widening construction.
During this period, a footpath closure will be in place. Similar to Phase one, it is anticipated that in the last week of phase two, the road will be closed between Park Road and Pearson Avenue for up to two days for the installation of the remaining two road humps.
Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained, with diversion routes set up.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at Hull City Council, commented: “We are committed to improving and enhancing the safety of our road network and the new traffic calming measures on Pearson Park are a significant step towards achieving that goal.
“By reducing vehicle speeds and widening the footpath, not only are we improving safety, but we are providing an accessible walking environment for everyone in the community.
“This scheme also aligns with our broader community plan for Hull to create more inclusive neighbourhoods as well as make the city healthier, fairer and more environmentally friendly.
“We would like to thank our residents for their patience and understanding while we carry out these works.”
The scheme has been funded by the local area team and councillors and will be completed by M.B Roche & Sons Limited on behalf of the council.
