Traffic Stalls as Garbage Truck Crashes Onto Freeway Near Lincoln Tunnel

Multiple people were injured when a garbage truck lost control and crashed through a barrier onto NJ-495 near the Lincoln Tunnel in Union City, New Jersey, on July 3, according to local reports.

The westbound lane of NJ-495 was closed at Palisade Avenue, halting traffic out of New York City through the Lincoln Tunnel and snarling eastbound traffic, according to New York Emergency Management.

Video posted to Snapchat shows bystanders helping the two occupants of the truck, one of whom was still inside the truck. Both were taken to hospital, according to reports.
