Tragedy as body found at Edinburgh beauty spot with police probing 'mystery' death

The body of a 64-year-old man has been discovered on a scenic walking route in Edinburgh.

Police Scotland received reports of concern for a person at around 10.15am on Thursday November 21 at the Water of Leith Walkway below Queensferry Road.

Forensics were spotted at the site in the afternoon with one eyewitness describing seeing a blue tent with officers standing alongside it.

Officers have said the death is being treated as unexplained but the incident is not believed to be suspicious.

Police will continue their investigation into the death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.15am on Thursday, 21 November, 2024, we were called to a report of concern for a man on Water of Leith Walkway, Edinburgh.

"Emergency services attended and a 64-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
