Tragedy as body found in search for missing 17-year-old
A body has been found in the Menai Strait in the search for a missing 17-year-old. North Wales Police made the sad announcement this evening.
The force said: "A body has sadly been discovered in the area of the Menai Strait following extensive searches for a missing 17-year-old." Superintendent Simon Barrasford said: “My thoughts are with the family and our officers continue to provide support to them at this incredibly difficult time.
“I would like to thank the community for their support during the searches."

The tragic discovery came eight days after a search was launched following a report that a person entered the water near Menai Suspension Bridge shortly before 9.45am on Friday, September 20. The RNLI, North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard, and the Aeronautical Rescue Co-Ordination Centre were all scrambled to search the Menai Strait soon afterwards.
It had been reported on social media that the family and friends had also been helping in the search along the shore for the missing person, believed to be a local, teenaged boy.
