Tragedy as man, 48, dies after Mercedes ploughs into trees in Rotherham

A man has died after crashing into trees in Rotherham.

The crash happened on the A57, Worksop Road, at the junction with Ryton Road, at 7.22pm on Thursday, January 23. His black Mercedes C200 left the carriageway and crashed into the forestry.

The driver, a 48-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is being supported by officers.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision has been launched and we’re keen to hear from anyone who believes they have information or footage that can assist us. "
