Tragedy as man dies after police and paramedics called to A45

A paramedic officer, two ambulances  and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care car were sent to the scene

A man has died following an incident on the A45 in Rugby. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) has confirmed that the man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene earlier this morning (November 19).

Several 999 calls were made to report an incident at just before 8.45am. Police closed off the junction of the A45 and M45.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene. A WMAS spokesperson said that medics found a man had been critically injured.

Despite best efforts, medics were unable to save his life. "We were called to a medical emergency at the junction of the A45 and M45 in Rugby at 8.43a," the WMAS spokesperson said.

"We sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene. On arrival, crews found a man who had been critically injured.

"Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was declared dead at the scene." Warwickshire Police closed off the junction and it remained

At the time, a post on the force's page on Facebook explained that there was no wider risk to the public. The force has yet to issue an update.
