Tragedy as man dies in Stoke-on-Trent 'medical emergency'
A man has died in a 'medical emergency'. Police cordoned off a pavement and paramedics scrambled an air ambulance to land in a Smallthorne field as part of the emergency services response.
The alarm was raised on High Lane, in Burslem, at 10.42am today.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to a medical emergency at a property on High Lane. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill attended the scene. Upon arrival we found an elderly man in a critical condition. Ambulance staff administered advanced life support to him. Despite their best efforts, it unfortunately became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
