Tragedy as person dies after 999 crews called to 'casualty on tracks'
A person has died after emergency services were called to a "casualty on the tracks".
British Transport Police and paramedics rushed to the line between Preston and Lytham shortly after 10pm on Monday (August 26). A number of services were cancelled following the tragic incident, including the 9.49pm service from Preston which terminated at Kirkham & Wesham.
Officers confirmed that the person sadly passed away at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

A BTP spokesperson told LancsLive: "Officers were called to the line near Lytham railway station at 10.04pm on 26 August to reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
The Friends of St Annes station released a statement last night, with a spokesperson saying: "The 21:49 service from Preston has terminated at Kirkham & Wesham and been cancelled between Kirkham & Wesham and Blackpool South due to a person hit by a train. We do not know any further details.
"The incident occurred at Moss Side - all services are curtailed. There is a bus at 22.50 from Preston to Blackpool South and bus at 00.10 from Blackpool South to Preston calling at all stops."
