Tragedy as person found dead in police incident on railway line
A person was tragically found dead on a railway line on Tuesday (September 24), with trains to Manchester cancelled as emergency services swarmed the area.
Police and paramedics were called to the railway line near to Macclesfield train station at around 3.47pm to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Services between Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent were delayed or cancelled as emergency services responded to the tragic incident.

A person, whose age and gender has not been confirmed, was pronounced dead at the scene. Their death is not being treated as suspicious.
British Transport Police remained at the scene for around an hour before services were resumed. A file is being prepared for the coroner.
A force spokesperson said:" Officers were called to the line near Macclesfield railway station at around 3.47pm yesterday (24 September) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
