Tragedy as teenagers find body of woman in North Wales river
A woman’s body was spotted in the River Conwy by three teenage anglers, the opening of an inquest heard. The youngsters were fishing near the centre of Llanrwst on September 12 when they saw the woman, and they called the police.
At a brief hearing in Ruthin today (Mon) the woman was named as 59-year-old Brenda Owen, a care worker, of School Bank Road, Llanrwst. John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said that pathologist Dr Mark Atkinson had given a provisional cause of death as drowning but samples have been taken for toxicology tests.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
