Tragedy as three die after Storm Bert wreaks havoc across UK
Three people have died after Storm Bert caused chaos across the country. There were incidents in Northamptonshire, West Yorkshire, and Hampshire.
It came after some parts of the UK saw snow while others were hit with heavy rain and strong winds. The Mirror reports how Northamptonshire Police said a man died after a collision on the A45 at around 8.20am today. The cars involved in the collision near Flore were a Toyota Corolla and a Hyundai i30 Active - and sadly, the driver of the Toyota died at the scene.
Issuing an appeal for witnesses, the police force said: "Investigators are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage after a man died following a collision on the A45. At around 8.20am today, Saturday, November 23, the drivers of a silver Toyota Corolla and a dark grey Hyundai i30 Active were in collision on the A45 near Flore."

"Sadly the driver of the Toyota, a man in his 40s, died at the scene. The road currently remains closed (1pm Saturday) while collision investigation work continues, with motorists asked to find alternative routes."
"Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either vehicle prior to it, especially anyone who left the scene before emergency services arrived. They would also like to hear from anyone who has any relevant dash-cam footage of either vehicle."
The tragedy followed separate crashes that killed two other men. A 34-year-old man died after his car "spun off the road" in icy conditions and ploughed into a wall in Shipley, West Yorkshire, just before 1am. Hours later in a separate incident, a second man aged in his 60s was killed when a tree fell onto his vehicle in Hampshire shortly after 7.45am.
Meanwhile, homeowners are facing flooding as Storm Bert continues to batter Wales, bringing rain, winds and rising waters. Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has issued a series of flood warnings and alerts across the country, as bridges are shut and roads closed.
Five adults and five children had to be rescued from a house in Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, near Llangollen in north Wales, following a landslide. A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said they are all being assessed by ambulance services away from the scene "somewhere warm".
A further landslide has been reported in the area but it is understood no one has been affected. Over the weekend, Wales is expected to face up to 75mm of rain widely, with 150mm possible in some areas.
The strongest gust recorded so far by the Met Office is 82mph at Capel Curig in Conwy, north Wales, with winds of 70mph expected around coastal areas. The Met Office has warned heavy rain is likely to cause travel disruption and flooding, particularly across south Wales.
