Tragedy as woman dies in Grimsby house fire

A woman has tragically died following a house fire in Grimsby.

Emergency services remain at the property on Sherwood Road today, following the fire at about 8.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 12 November).

Humberside Police said a woman was given medical attention at the scene, but sadly died in hospital.

A spokesperson said: "The fire was extinguished and upon entering the property, a woman was provided with medical assistance before being taken to hospital to receive treatment. Sadly, despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman died a short while later.

"A scene guard remains in place whilst officers work with the fire service to establish the cause of the fire, however at this time, there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death."
