Tragedy as woman hit by van dies and police hunt for witnesses

A woman has died after being hit by a van in Rotherham. Police have issued details of the tragedy as they appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The 84-year-old woman was hit by a silver Ford Transit in Woodhouse Green, Thurcroft, on Wednesday, January 22 at 8.02pm. She was rushed to hospital life-threatening injuries but sadly died a short time later.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. South Yorkshir Police are now appealing for witnesses. A spokesperson for the force said: "We are now asking for any witnesses to the collision or any motorists in the area around the time of the incident with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
