'Tragic loss' as schoolgirl, 15, dies after police called to house

A 15-year-old girl has died after reportedly suffering a medical episode at home. Emergency services were called to a house in Sutcliffe Street, in Kensington, in the early hours of October 31 after reports the girl had fallen ill. She was taken to hospital, where despite the best efforts of medical staff, she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police are treating the death as 'unexplained' and are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of her death. According to neighbours, officers were seen at the property on Sutcliffe Street for several days after the incident as investigations were carried out.

The girl was a pupil at Dixons Broadgreen Academy, where shocked staff and students are supporting each other after learning the tragic news. A spokesperson for Dixons Broadgreen Academy told the ECHO: "The staff and students at Dixons Broadgreen Academy are working together to support each other following the tragic loss of one of their students. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by the entire school community."

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that an investigation is ongoing following the unexplained death of a teenage girl in Kensington last month.

"Just after 2am on Wednesday 31 October, emergency services were called to Sutcliffe Street to a report a 15-year-old girl had suffered a medical episode at home. She was taken to hospital and despite the efforts of medical staff she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. We are currently treating her death as unexplained and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
