A new trailer has landed for Luc Besson's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

It's our second extended look at the epic action sci-fi which sees Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne play intergalactic agents Valerian and Laureline, charged with keeping order in the 28th century.

Kicking off with a Star Wars-esque desert chase, the trailer is certainly a visual feast – but we've been burned before with Jupiter Ascending.

We're praying it's another Fifth Element instead.

DeHaan had another reason to be excited for us to be seeing the new trailer as it's led to his very own emoji on Twitter. That's when you know you've made it.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is based on the comic series Valérian and Laureline written by Pierre Christin, and sees our two agents head off on a mission to the city of Alpha.

When they reach the metropolis, they discover there is a mystery at the centre of Alpha, a dark force that threatens the peaceful existence of the city and must race to safeguard Alpha and the future of the universe.

The sci-fi also stars Clive Owen, Rihanna, John Goodman and Ethan Hawke, and is reportedly the largest budget European movie produced to date.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is released in US cinemas on July 21 and UK cinemas on August 4.
