Train Passengers Walk to Station After Derailment in Hong Kong

A passenger train derailed, injuring at least eight people, at Hong Kong’s Hung Hom MTR Station during morning commute hours on Tuesday, September 17, Hong Kong Free Press reported.

An estimated 500 passengers were evacuated from the train, according to Hong Kong Free Press, and had to walk to the station, as seen in this footage here.

A section of rail near where the incident occurred was replaced on Tuesday morning, according to an unnamed source cited by the South China Morning Post.

The derailment is the latest in a string of woes – including incidents where protesters and police have clashed on trains and fires have been set at stations – faced by Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation. Credit: 肥力教煮F Cooking (YouTube) via Storyful
