Edinburgh reality TV stars Meryl Williams and Erica Roberts have teamed up to launch their very own podcast to have 'deep chats' and chat all things Edinburgh.

Meryl Williams, 28, starred in BBC's The Traitors, winning season one. Erica Roberts starred in the UK version of Married at First Sight. The duo who met last year became friends after bonding over their unique experiences of being on reality shows.

The Podcast, You and Me was launched on Wednesday, September 10 with their first episode now available.

Meryl said it was hard to find someone to go to events with during the day or to hang out at a random weekday lunchtime, due to most of their friends working 9-5 jobs.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Meryl said: "My therapist had ironically said you need to find a friend in the industry. I was literally taking my mum and gran everywhere to events, and trying to get them to take pictures for Instagram was hard!"

The 28-year-old was born in South Africa, before moving to the UK at age six. She lived in Essex before moving to Portobello and eventually moving to Haddington.

Meryl said: "Erica and I used to have very deep conversations and we'd joke 'We should be recording these' and it led to us thinking about doing a podcast. And so the You and Me podcast was born.

"Eventually after months of writing 'start podcast' on my to-do lists, me and Erica eventually started looking at studios to start recording."

The reality star talked about being on the iconic Traitors show: "Being on television is amazing, it gives you that platform but it doesn't help you on an individual basis of getting who you are across. With my show, there were 22 contestants and with an hour episode, it is so hard to get everyone's individual personalities across.

"This will let everyone see a different side of us, and they can see that we are a lot more relatable than people think."

The East Lothian resident is excited to share her new venture with Edinburgh, she said: "Every Tuesday we will have a new episode and there is a lot of Edinburgh content - we talk about places we have gone for food, for drinks, things to see and do.

"We also cover where to go in Edinburgh for good content like a good building or good street. I feel like you don't really see many television stars from Edinburgh, actually 'in' Edinburgh and posting content.

"The basis of the show is two best friends navigating life. It's a new friendship but with us, it's like we are an old couple. People watch us and say there's no way you guys have been friends for six months!"
