The Tramshed Project: New socially distanced venue with food from James Cochran and more to launch in Shoreditch

A new socially distanced venue featuring a 2,000sq ft gallery space and food from the likes of Zoe Adjonyoh and James Cochran will open in Shoreditch next month.

The Tramshed Project, which is the latest venture from Street Feast founder Dominic Cools-Lartigue, is set to launch on Friday October 9.

Kitchens will operate seven days a week, serving up dishes from chefs Andrew Clarke and Daniel Watkins, as well as Adjonyoh, author of the cookbook Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen, and Cochran, owner and head chef at Islington’s 12:51.

Diners will eat inside the 120-capacity Main Hall. An upstairs space, Library, will have room for 40 diners sat around a kitchen counter, hosting “food and drink pairing events, collaborative dinners and takeovers with celebrated chefs”.

The downstairs Basement Gallery will feature exhibitions, workshops and panel discussions.

Programming will launch with Black Flamingo, a Friday night jazz and dinner club, which aims to be “a new hub of Black culture, cuisine, business and education in London”. A series of events will also run in conjunction with Black History Month from October 23-25, with further programming to be announced.

A Covid-secure workspace will also feature as part of the venue.

It will all be housed within the Grade II-listed building formerly occupied by Mark Hix’s restaurant Tramshed, which was forced to close due to the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cools-Lartigue said: “Among the many lessons of lockdown, we learned the power of purpose. We heard countless tales of communities coming together to do good and help their neighbours in need. That same spirit of togetherness is at the heart of our approach to opening The Tramshed Project.

“We’re lucky enough to have inherited such a wonderful space, and I’m happy that we can share it with Londoners looking for a safe place to work and eat during the day. The variety and diversity of our offering excites me, with Zoe, Andrew and James, that mix feels like the London I know and love.”
