Trans cyclist received physical threats after PM’s comments

Cyclist Emily Bridges speaks to ITV News about “threats of physical violence” made by “complete strangers online” after Boris Johnson’s comments about transgender women’s place in sport. The prime minister said in April: “I don’t think biological males should be competing in female sporting events”. Speaking about the avalanche of abuse she received subsequently online, Bridges said: “People are entitled to hold an opinion about it, but there’s a way to go about voicing that opinion - and threatening to kneecap me is not that way”.
