Turkish newspaper Sabah report that the South Korean international is travelling to England and will complete a switch to the Premier League, just a year after arriving in Istanbul from Beijing Guoan.

It is suggested that Spurs and Everton have both made offers for Kim worth more than £17m.

Captain Mee leaving Burnley after 11 years

Thursday 2 June 2022 11:35 , George Flood

A key departure from Burnley following their agonising relegation from the Premier League.

Long-serving and beloved captain Ben Mee will exit Turf Moor this summer after 11 years when his contract expires.

The influential 32-year-old looks set to have plenty of suitors and will be expected to make a swift return to top-flight football.

Burnley will have to seek plenty of defensive recruits over the coming months, with Mee’s centre-back partner James Tarkowski also leaving for nothing.

Man United close to yelling Timber?

Thursday 2 June 2022 11:24 , George Flood

Frenkie De Jong is not the only player being actively courted by Manchester United early in the summer.

Erik ten Hag also appears to be prioritising defensive recruits after last season’s horrow show at the back.

He is keen to raid to former club Ajax for Jurrien Timber, who was a key performer at centre-back under his Dutch compatriot in Amsterdam and can also play at full-back.

Per The Guardian, United have opened talks with Ajax over Timber, who is said to be keen on a switch to Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old, who already has six senior international caps for the Netherlands, is said to be valued at around £43m, though Ajax have apparently offered him an improved contract.

Neymar to Chelsea ruled out

Thursday 2 June 2022 10:35 , George Flood

Any Chelsea fans expecting a superstar signing like Neymar to mark Todd Boehly’s first summer transfer window in charge are likely to be left sorely disappointed.

There had been fanciful whisperings that the Brazilian could rock up at Stamford Bridge in the coming months as a statement early arrival amid reports that Paris Saint-Germain want to sell him.

However, the chances of a deal of that magnitude happening look extremely unlikely despite Boehly’s takeover and transfer war chest.

“The one thing we’re told from this takeover is this will not be [Roman] Abramovich mark two,” transfer insider Dean Jones told GiveMeSport this week.

“With that in mind, I’m not expecting Neymar to arrive at Stamford Bridge as one of their first signings. I think they’ve got to be a little bit smarter than that.”

BREAKING: Man United confirm Mata departure

Thursday 2 June 2022 10:09 , George Flood

Another day, another Manchester United exit.

Following yesterday’s announcements over the imminent departures of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard, the Red Devils have now also confirmed that Juan Mata will be leaving Old Trafford following the expiration of his contract this summer.

The Spaniard, who turned 34 in April, scored 51 goals in 285 total appearances for United after joining from Chelsea in a £37.1m deal during the short-lived reign of David Moyes back in 2014.

Mata won the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Europa League and Community Shield during his eight years at the club.

Dybala opens door to Premier League switch

Thursday 2 June 2022 09:47 , George Flood

Could we potentially see Paulo Dybala in the Premier League next season?

The Argentine marksman, on target in last night’s comprehensive Finalissima victory over Italy at Wembley, is a free agent this summer as he bids an emotional farewell to Juventus.

Inter Milan are trying to secure a deal for the 28-year-old, who remains happy in Serie A having played there ever since first joining Palermo in 2012.

However, while Dybala is content to stay in Italy, he has not ruled out a potential switch to England or Spain in future.

“I am quite calm, the people who work with me are taking care,” he told ESPN. “In Italy, I am very comfortable. I would still like to know other leagues like the Premier League, LaLiga... but I’m happy in Italy.”

Tottenham set to confirm Forster signing

Thursday 2 June 2022 09:24 , George Flood

Tottenham are poised to announce their second signing of a pivotal summer transfer window for Antonio Conte.

Versatile and experienced Croatian international Ivan Perisic became Spurs’ first capture earlier this week after confirmation of his two-year contract in north London, where he will head after his deal with Inter Milan expires.

But Tottenham were also said to be hot on the heels of Fraser Forster, having turned their attentions away from West Brom’s Sam Johnstone in the battle to replace back-up goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini with a homegrown option to support Hugo Lloris.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Forster has now signed a contract until 2024, with the paperwork completed and an official announcement coming soon.

The former Celtic star is also available on a free transfer as his Southampton deal expires.

Newcastle close to £36m Ekitike deal

Thursday 2 June 2022 08:56 , George Flood

Newcastle are on track to bolster their strikeforce this summer.

Hugo Ekitike is a known target for the resurgent Magpies, who tried to sign the teenage Reims star back in January.

They were frustrated on that occasion, but it looks like the deal is on track to happen this summer despite competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are close to agreeing a transfer for Ekitike worth £36m including add-ons.

The France Under-20 international is said to be eager for a move to St James’ Park and will apparently sign a five-year contract, having scored 11 goals this term.

Gerrard considers Suarez reunion at Villa

Thursday 2 June 2022 08:36 , George Flood

The burning question on many Villa fans’ lips will now be if Gerrard can marry the deals for Kamara and Carlos with a high-profile Luis Suarez reunion.

Links between Suarez and a return to the Premier League have been plentiful ever since his former Liverpool team-mate succeeded Dean Smith at Villa Park last November.

However, they are ratcheting up once again this week, with The Athletic reporting that the controversial Uruguayan is being considered as a target as he prepares to leave Atletico Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

ICYMI - Aston Villa complete Diego Carlos deal

Thursday 2 June 2022 08:19 , George Flood

Aston Villa are certainly not wasting any time on the transfer front this summer.

After a difficult end to a tough season, Steven Gerrard immediately set about strengthening his squad with an impressive deal for Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

That was swiftly followed by news that Villa had agreed a fee - believed to be in the region of £26m - with Sevilla for Brazilian defender Diego Carlos.

The club confirmed last night that transfer was now also wrapped up, with the centre-back having agreed personal terms on a four-year contract and passed a medical.

He will officially move to Villa Park when the summer window opens on June 10.

“I am really happy because the Premier League is one of the best competitions,” Carlos said. “I always want to do the best for the club and the shirt I’m wearing.”

“Even now I can’t believe I’m here because it’s a dream to compete in the Premier League,” he added. “And now I have a very clear opportunity, I hope to give it 100% my best, and to be able to play to the best of my ability.”

Liverpool eye Terrier as Mane replacement

Thursday 2 June 2022 08:07 , George Flood

Have Liverpool identified the ideal replacement for Sadio Mane?

The Senegal star remains adamant that he will be leaving Anfield this summer, with Bayern Munich still the likely destination as they seek to cover for the imminent loss of Robert Lewandowski.

But Liverpool won’t let Mane leave without a successor, with doubts also surrounding the long-term future of Mo Salah as he too prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Reds are tracking Martin Terrier, the 25-year-old French forward who notched 21 goals for Rennes in Ligue 1 this term.

Chelsea making new Kounde push

Thursday 2 June 2022 08:02 , George Flood

Chelsea are in discussions over finally signing long-term defensive target Jules Kounde.

That is per Catalan publication Sport, who claim that talks have been reopened with Sevilla over a summer transfer for the £50m-rated French international.

Kounde has long since been a top target for Chelsea, but a potential deal collapsed on deadline day last summer and was unable to be revisited in January.

However, there now appears huge confidence that it will finally happen over the coming months, with American billionaire Todd Boehly handing manager Thomas Tuchel a £200m transfer war chest after finally completing his £4.25bn takeover of the club last week.

Chelsea are desperate for new defenders, with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger leaving on free transfers, potentially to be followed by the likes of Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta.

ICYMI - Man United in De Jong talks

Thursday 2 June 2022 07:57 , George Flood

Manchester United are pushing hard to make Frenkie de Jong the first high-profile signing of the Erik ten Hag era at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils’ midfield is in need of major surgery with Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard out the door, to be followed by the likes of Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, United have now entered direct talks with Barcelona over De Jong, who could be available for a fee of around £72.5m as Barca continue to deal with some well-documented financial issues.

However, Romano adds that the Dutch international remains reluctant to leave the Camp Nou as he wants to play in the Champions League next season.

Son misses out on shortlist

Wednesday 1 June 2022 17:22 , Matt Verri

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, but his team-mate Son Heung-min is a shock absentee from the six-man shortlist.

Son finished the season as the Premier League’s top scorer, winning the Golden Boot for the first time in his career.

The 29-year-old, however, has failed to be nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, with the fact voting takes place before the end of the campaign likely hindering his prospects.

Son had still enjoyed a fine season before then, though, and he is a surprise absentee from a shortlist dominated by Liverpool players.

Bayern make Sadio Mane bid

Wednesday 1 June 2022 16:46 , Matt Verri

It continues to look likely that Sadio Mane will leave Liverpool this summer.

Sky Germany reports that Bayern Munich have made an offer of €30m plus €5-10m in add-ons for the forward, as they look to bring him to the Bundesliga.

With Mane only having a year left on his contract, it’s unlikely Liverpool will be receiving a significantly bigger bid this summer.

Phillips off City move

Wednesday 1 June 2022 15:12 , Alex Young

Kalvin Phillips has been warned off a move to Manchester City.

The midfielder, currently with England, is attracting plenty of interest, with Manchester United also keen.

He said: “Is he a better player than Rodri? I’m not sure," says former Celtic forward Alan McInally "He’s a wonderful, wonderful football player but I’m sorry I don’t see City going for him. With Rodri there I don’t see him being a starter, I genuinely don’t.

“We’re forgetting one huge point here. Leeds United are a Premier League football team. He got into the England team playing for Leeds United, and Leeds will want to make their squad stronger.

“So does he have to move? Not particularly, because if he can play for Leeds, with the season they had, and still be involved with the England squad then there’s no real emergency to move."

Spurs must make Kane an offer he can’t refuse

Wednesday 1 June 2022 13:58 , Alex Young

The arrival of Ivan Perisic should kick-start a pivotal summer at Tottenham, but the most important signing the club could make this off-season is still Harry Kane.

Unlike this time last year, there is no talk of Kane leaving Spurs, a reflection of their impressive progress under Antonio Conte and a new sense of ambition at the club (as well as a lack of obvious suitors).

Kane is entering the final two years of his contract but, as reported by Standard Sport last week, is understood to be open to discussions over a new deal — provided Conte is backed and Spurs appear in a position to win the trophies he craves.

Lukaku wants Inter return

Wednesday 1 June 2022 09:28 , Alex Young

Romelu Lukaku is keen to return to Inter Milan after a nightmare first season at Chelsea, reports Simon Collings.

The Belgian faces an uncertain future at Chelsea and is due to hold talks with the club about his role next season.

A move back to the San Siro would be complicated, though, given the finances involved in any deal. New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is also unlikely to want to take a hit on Lukaku, who would be unable to command the £97.5m fee he cost a year ago. The 29-year-old’s wages are equally problematic.

The possibility of a loan has been mooted however, if Lukaku were to leave, Chelsea would have to find a replacement.

ICYMI: Barcelona told they ‘cannot’ sign Robert Lewandowski

Wednesday 1 June 2022 06:30 , Matt Verri

La Liga president Javier Tebas has told Barcelona they not currently able to sign Robert Lewandowski.

The Bayern Munich striker is desperate to secure a move this summer, insisting his story with the Bundesliga champions ‘is over’, but his desire to make the switch to Barcelona could be hit by the club’s financial situation.

“They know what they have to do,” Tebas told Marca.

“They know perfectly well our economic control rules and their financial situation. The rules are there to avoid major economic problems. I don’t know if they will sell De Jong, Pedri or Pepito Perez.

“They know what they have to do - sell assets and earn more, this is what they have to do.

“Barca has had many accumulated losses in the last tax years, some which could have been avoided and they have to stock the pantry.

“Just as Madrid have stocked up, Barcelona have emptied it. Today they cannot sign [Lewandowski].’

Nottingham Forest plan to spend

“We have to invest more. Everybody talks about the television rights and money that comes in, but it is not enough for clubs in the first year.

“That’s why we must not be the poorer relatives of the Premier League. We need to buy some good players and some that will make the difference and have the experience who know the division.

“We need to be careful how we spend and make the right choices.”

ICYMI: Ivan Perisic signs for Tottenham

Ivan Perisic has revealed he watched Tottenham’s run-in and says it was “obvious” his new club would finish above Arsenal and clinch Champions League football after winning the north London derby on May 12, writes Dan Kilpatrick.

Spurs unveiled Perisic as their first signing of the summer on Tuesday, with the 33-year-old signing a two-year deal after leaving Inter Milan on a free transfer.

He suggested the move had been in the pipeline for several weeks, saying he was watched Spurs’ run-in as they completed a six-point swing on rivals Arsenal in the final three matches to finish fourth.

“I’m really excited to start with the Spurs family,” Perisic said. “When I got a call from the coach and sporting director, I said I really wanted to play in the Premier League since 2009 when I starting to play professional football in Belgium. This is the moment and I can’t wait.”

Harry Maguire confident of fresh start under Erik ten Hag

Wednesday 1 June 2022 05:00 , Matt Verri

Harry Maguire insists Manchester United are ready to make a fresh start under new manager Erik ten Hag.

The United captain struggled for form this season, as did many of his teammates, and there have been rumours about his future at the club.

But Maguire is adamant that the players will improve under Ten Hag and will benefit from the clean slate.

“We’ve had a really low season so for a new manager to come in, I’m sure the first day of pre-season everybody will be buzzing around, doing their best to impress and everyone coming back in shape because we have a big season ahead of us for sure,” Maguire said.

“We know we are going to improve. We’ve got to improve and we’ve got to do better because last season was nowhere near good enough. The new manager will bring in a lot of positive energy, the lads will go with that.

“As players, as individuals, as a team, the confidence of the team, you could see towards the end of the season, the confidence wasn’t there, and the belief in the group, and the belief to go and get results after results because that’s what the club demands. That’s what it expects.”
