Wednesday December 12 transfer news and rumours

Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio is reportedly a target for Tottenham in the January transfer window. Marca claim Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants the 22-year-old, but has had an initial approach rejected as Asensio is said to be keen to stay in his homeland.

Man Utd are showing interest in Middlesbrough winger Marcus Tavernier, the Daily Mail says. Scouts have watched the 19-year-old in action in recent weeks as the club consider bolstering their options for their under-23 squad, the paper reports.

Liverpool are considering a bid for Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross, the Daily Mirror reports. The paper says Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is weighing up a £15million move for the 27-year-old as he looks to strengthen his squad for their Premier League title bid.

Man City defender Vincent Kompany is wanted by Barcelona, according to The Sun. It is thought the Spanish side are interested in bringing the 32-year-old, who is out of contract in July, to Camp Nou to add some experience to their back four.

Arsenal are targeting the Real Valladolid defender Fernando Calero as they attempt to strengthen their defence, according to reports.

Tuesday December 11 transfer news and rumours

Chelsea have held talks over a potential move for Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj (pictured, right), the Daily Mail reports. The 24-year-old Albania international, who has previously worked with Blues boss Maurizio Sarri, is valued at £45million, according to the paper. Chelsea could agree the deal in January but allow him to finish the season in Italy, it adds.

Fulham are preparing for a January move for Leicester City's Islam Slimani, according to the Daily Telegraph. Claudio Ranieri, the new manager at Fulham, is looking to boost the club's hopes of Premier League survival, the paper says. Slimani is currently on loan at Fenerbahce but the Turkish club are said to be prepared to cut the deal short next month.

Man Utd have no intention of selling Paul Pogba in January despite him falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho, the Daily Mail says. Juventus are known to be interested in taking him back, but United chiefs will turn down any offers next month as they still see a bright future for him at Old Trafford, the paper claims.

Elsewhere, Tottenham have joined Man Utd in the hunt for Romania international wonderkid Dennis Man, according to The Sun. The 20-year-old has impressed this season for club side FCSB - formerly Steaua Bucharest - and has also attracted attention from the likes of Roma and Fenerbahce, the paper says.

Monday December 10 transfer news and rumours

Juventus are reportedly ready to bring Paul Pogba back to Turin when the January transfer window opens.

Tuttosport report that Juve was ‘Pogba straight away’ as question marks continue to hang over his long-term future at Old Trafford.

A return to Juventus would be a repeat of the move Pogba made back in 2012, when he quit Man Utd for Serie A, only to return to Manchester four-years later in a £89.3million deal.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has reportedly been given the greenlight to move for his No1 defensive target: Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.

Mourinho and Man Utd have been heavily linked with Tottenham’s Belgium international, whose contract is due to expire next summer.

The Sun reports that Man Utd’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has given Mourinho the go-ahead to move for the 29-year-old next month.

Another player reportedly on United’s radar is Hertha Berlin wonderkid Arne Maier.

The Germany U21 international is also reportedly attracting interest from Arsenal, with Unai Emery said to be keen on a player likened to Real Madrid star Toni Kroos.

The Sun reports that he would cost in the region of £15m.

One ‘wonderkid’ who could be leaving the Premier League, however, is Liverpool’s Liam Millar.

The Mail reports that 19-year-old Canadian international is attacting interest from clubs across Europe and from the Championship.
