The queue of clubs looking to sign Cyrus Christie remains strong after his release by Hull City at the end of last season, bringing an end to his two-year career in East Yorkshire.

Vastly experienced Christie remains without a club after departing the MKM Stadium but has been working on his fitness with his own private trainer in a bid to keep fit and ready for action.

A popular figure in the City dressing room under Shota Arveladze and then Liam Rosenior, Christie made 27 Championship appearances in the Black and Amber last term but started just 12 times with only 37 minutes of action coming after the New Year's Day defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Glasgow giants Rangers, Millwall and Plymouth Argyle have all been linked with a move for the 31-year-old defender, though Preston North End have seemingly been ruled out of the running.

A return to Christie's hometown club - Coventry City - has also been talked about as he looks to firm up his new home for the 2024/25 campaign, but nothing has yet come to fruition.

Veteran campaigner Christie has played more than 450 times across a career that has taken in the likes of Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Swansea City and Middlesbrough, while playing 56 times for City, scoring three goals and collecting three assists.

After leaving City this summer, he wrote on social media: "Thank you to the fans, team-mates, and staff for the unwavering support at @hullcity," he wrote. "It's been an honour to wear the jersey and represent this club. Wishing you all the best in the future."

Christie was one of a host of players released by City during a frantic summer with Adama Traore, Greg Docherty and Billy Sharp all picking up clubs, while fellow ex-Tiger Aaron Connolly remains without a club.
