Paramount Pictures is lining up two new Transformers movies, with the aim of 'revamping' its billion dollar franchise.

According to Variety, the studio has hired executive producers/screenwriters Joby Harold (Edge of Tomorrow) and James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man) to spearhead these separate projects.

In terms of directing talent, there's no word yet, but that'll be top of the studio's priorities as the scripts develop.

The Transformers franchise went through a much-needed change back in 2018, with the release of Travis Knight's Bumblebee, after a plethora of Michael Bay sequels (Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon, etc) failed to impress critics.

Bumblebee's overall success saw a sequel quickly greenlit, but there's been no update on that for over a year now – could Paramount have changed tactics and chosen to go down another route?

Harold and Vanderbilt are certainly promising choices for the job. Just recently, the former co-wrote Zack Snyder's upcoming Netflix zombie thriller Army of the Dead (which sounds really intriguing), while the latter collaborated with David Fincher on 2007 thriller Zodiac.
