Transport for Wales apologise after one of its new trains leaks onto passengers
Transport for Wales has apologised after one of its brand new trains leaked on passengers during heavy rain. Welsh Government has invested £800m on a new fleet of Class 197 trains - built by CAF in Newport.
They were first introduced last year and are becoming the "backbone" of TfW’s services across the length and breadth of Wales and the Borders. The trains are an upgrade for passengers with quicker and more comfortable services.
But this weekend one passenger travelling with his son found they were being dripped on during their journey on the Shrewsbury to Holyhead service. It took place during heavy rainfall on Sunday afternoon.

Passenger Craig Sheehan reported this to TfW who have apologised and said they will assess the issue. Craig said: "The train was on time for a change and the journey was good - we also got a seat. The only problem was that the train starting leaking on me!"
A spokesperson for Transport for Wales said: "We are aware of a leak on board one of our services during a period of very heavy rainfall on Sunday and this will be assessed as part of our regular maintenance of our trains.
"We would like to apologise to any customers who were affected by this issue."
TfW is introducing 77 trains (51 two-car and 26 three-car) Class 197 trains on the Wales and Borders network. CAF have been asked to comment.
