Tree falls onto overhead cables causing sparks and leaving Cambs homes without power

A fallen tree caused sparks to fly from overhead power lines on Friday morning (September 27). The footage was caught by Simon Carr in Woodside, Longstanton, as the incident cut power to eight homes.

The properties were left without power for around two and a half hours, between 7.25am and 9.55am. Power supply was also temporarily interrupted to a further 18 homes while UK Power Networks cleared the tree and made repairs.

A fallen tree also blocked rail lines in Cambridgeshire on Friday morning (September 27). The incident in Wymondham closed the track between Norwich and Ely at around 8am.
